The heat is rising in Accra in more ways than one as December etches closer. The only question is - are YOU ready?
As published in DAME AFRICA’s CALLING THE DIASPORA edition, December’s itinerary resembles an ancient scroll that could take days to read. There is something for everyone in there. Day parties, festivals, concerts, tours – whatever you want. The policy is just to be abreast with the happenings, in order to plan adequately. Accra has the tendency to swallow you if have an impromptu or ‘in the moment’ policy all the time. Traffic is unforgiving. Hence, you will want to operate with precision and conviction.
Being mid-November we can absolutely smell December coming up. All event organizers are entering the final phase of their event roll-outs. Locals and foreigners alike are also rolling out their diaries and calendars to strike out certain days.
The Garden Party has been a staple December event for the past few years. The event organizers have shown us how they plan on taking the fun up a thousand notches by delivering a 10-day partying experience on the Labadi Beach Hotel beach-front dubbed The Polo Beach Club. Word on the street is that the elaborate preparations going into this 10-day event is going to make it the event of the Christmas season. Polo on the beach, different themed parties for each day, breakfast and brunch events, new-year celebrations and more have been rolled out to be occurring from 27th December – 5th January.
